Letter to the Police for Lost Passport

If your Nigerian Passport has been lost or stolen, one of the first steps in the replacement process is to obtain an official Police Report about the incident.

To assist with the process, the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York will provide applicants with an official letter, addressed to the police, which you can present when filing your report.

Please review the requirements below to request this letter, and ensure you include all supporting documents to avoid delays:

  1. Application Letter to the Consulate General of Nigeria, New York requesting a Letter to the Police for Lost Passport
  2. Duly completed Lost Passport form
  3. Two colored Passport Photographs
  4. Photocopy of Applicant's Lost Passport Data page or Copy of Birth Certificate or Nigerian Declaration of Age document or copy of Foreign Passport or US Permanent Resident Card
  5. Seventy dollar United States Postal Service Money Order. Kindly note that only a US Post Office money order made payable to the Consulate is acceptable.
