Authentication of Certificate of Free Sale

The Consulate General of Nigeria in New York provides Authentication of Certificates of Free Sale for U.S.-manufactured goods intended for export to Nigeria. This service verifies that the product in question is lawfully sold in the United States and is approved for general commercial distribution, as required by regulatory authorities in Nigeria.

Applicants must submit the under listed required documents to process an Authentication of Certificate of Free Sale:

1. A Covering Letter addressed to the Consulate General of Nigeria provided on the Exporting Company's Letterhead, requesting for authentication of the document.
2. Kindly note that all original documents and their photocopies must be submitted for sighting at the Consulate General of Nigeria, New York.
3. Also note that all original documents must be notarized.
4. Certificate of Free Sale issued by the Department of Health of the State where the product is manufactured, stating that the product is manufactured and widely distributed or used in the State and in the United States.
5. Certificate Analysis of the product.
6. Certificate of Registration of the Company that manufactures the product
7. Power of Attorney
8. A money order for One Hundred and Fifty dollars ($150), issued  only by the United States Post Office. The money order should be made payable to the Consulate of Nigeria, New York and issued for each product.
9. Samples of the product must be submitted with the documents for authentication
10. A prepaid, self-addressed, United States Postal Service express or priority envelope with tracking number. This is required for mailed requests.
